Christensen said he never expected that he would return to this role, but he didn’t hesitate to take on it when Zhao came to call.

“It was an easy choice,” he told CBC News, because he wanted to explore Vader’s evolution.

Another part of the lottery? Working with McGregor again after nearly two decades, the two actors got close while filming previous films.

“The whole experience was a lot of nostalgia,” Christensen said. “Using the lightsaber together has brought back a lot of old memories.”

Actor receives racist comments

But there were also mischievous moments after the series premiere.

Several weeks ago, black actress Moses Ingram, who plays Imperial Detective Reva Sivander, posted a series of stories on Instagram saying she received racist comments after the show first aired.

“There may be nothing anybody can do to cease this hate,” she said in the video.

She also thanked those who came out to support her.

“We all felt a little sad about it,” said Zhao, who said the franchise publicly supports Ingram.

“We love her as an individual and as an actor.”

10 year story gap
